MY ZOMBIE DIARY- REBUILDING with the CURE- Zombie Race 2013 was Awesome- Hear & See How we Survived! (PART 1)

The trail is clear..for now. I am alone now in the Forests near Holland, Ohio. There are a few other Survivors are also around in groups up to 7 or so. I think back to the beginning of the Zombie Race..and to the End...it was a close call... You get 3 stripes of plastic on a belt and if the Zombies get all of them you are 'dead'. You can still finish. Alot of people had this happen.

The Zombie Race as on their Facebook page:

"Join us as Rebel Race and The Survival Race present ZOMBIE RACE! A 5k & 15k obstacle course with zombies.
Survey the wasteland before you – an apocalyptic mix of mud, danger, and undead terror. From the moment you leave the start line, you’ll be running, climbing, crawling, jumping, and fleeing in horror from the hordes of undead whose only mission is to devour you alive! Will you survive not only the obstacles and the ravenous monsters, but the fear within yourself? Only you can decide.

Come for the day, or camp with people as zombie-crazy as you. Enjoy music, food, beer, mud, and did we mention zombies?" (Facebook.com/zombieracellc)

3 Scary Undead...They are holding the life flags of Survivors...They didn't make it
We arrived to find the safe zone "Zombie Race" area was being over run. we had to 'bug-out' into the wooded area...I ran the 5K (You  had a choice to run bigger distance) and let me tell you I should have done more actual outside running. I can run 25 minutes @6mph without getting tired on a tread mill. However, I was exhausted by the end of the first kilometer. Everyone was having a great time.

The first 1/3 didn't have alot of Zombies but had several hazards like a rope bridge, logs you had to run on, and tires you had to run through like in Football practice.

The second 1/3 were were the most aggressive Zombies were. I was trapped at one point, alone, between 2 groups...luckily more survivors came and the Zombies were distracted.I remember a Zombie getting a life strip during this section.

The last 1/3 was what I called the "TIRED, PARANOID GREEN MILE". I was alone for at least half the time and afraid of Zombies jumping out from behind trees. There was a big, open area that was beautiful but I didn't let it distract me as at some point I lost a life strip from my belt.

The Host at the Start and Finish Line- Did a great job!Facebook.com/lifecelebrationsdj
The end of the race was a structure to climb over and then a mud pit to crawl through under wire.

Last Mud pit. PI Sam is going through.
A Zombie chased me almost to the finish line and I tumbled. He didn't get the last life strip I had thank heavens. I went across the Finish line on my hands and knees!

PI Sam tumbles from running from a Zombie!

Thanks for reading out blog. Stay tuned for a few more parts. We have more pictures and video coming soon, so 'Stay Frosty'
