Detroit is alot of things....but we excel at FUN! THE GADFLY went to Opyum Lounge on September 7th for our Friend, MARK JEZZY, a well-know Promoter (Mark Jezzy Promotions) for various Clubs and Social Events. He was having his birthday party there. Happy Birthday Mark!

Opyum Nightclub in located in Downtown,  at 1314 Broadway St (Gratiot) Detroit, MI 48226. The club is at the heart of Downtown, a rocks-throw from the Business Center. 

Security is tight and professional. The Officers are stern and

friendly; their uniforms are similar to a Police Tactical Unit.

Our reporter talked to several people including the Host, BoBo (Bo Brown). I introduced myself and he was nice enough to pull me into the hallway near the offices; the great dance music was muffled slightly. He says the Detroit Club and Music scene is really great. When running a club one has to know how to entertain and keep the patrons happy. THE GADFLY will try to get an interview with  BoBo  in the future on Club life in Detroit! We talked to another Promoter, Nick Moore of ColorStreak Images. He was working the crowd taking pictures of the people having fun.

D.J Johnny Thorn was great and seems to really know his craft. He lead the crowd on the first level, a large rectangle room.

He had the crowd grooving with the beats. One patron, a woman with a group of friends says she loves the food at Opyum. By 11:30pm the place was full with a line outside. The place was hopping. As I know people in New York City with connections to the entertainment industry, I could tell the crowd was a great demograpical mix of people. I got the impression I was at a Manhattan Club. The quality of people and the great Decor helped this impression.

I talked to several other people- they all thought the Club was great. As I had to goto the Missing Persons day in Bath, Michigan the next morning, I had to cut out around 12:30 am or so. I wished my friend, Matk Jezzy a happy Birthday and went on my way in the beautiful Detroit night. A neon wonderland!
