Memorial Day & a Michigan's Soldiers' Museum

Once again Memorial Day is upon us- made more poignant by the fact of Michigan coming out of the Covid-19 Epidemic. Perhaps the staying-at-home, the limited mobility and the commands from the State Officials is a little like Combat-type areas. But our Michigan Soldiers who fought to protect their fellow Americans are use to such stricter life-styles when in Uniform.

I visited the MICHIGAN HEROES MUSEUM (just outside as it was closed) and it was a solemn and hopeful visit. Sad that so many perished for our freedom but hopeful in that our Country is alive, whist in turmoil right now, but still kicking and a Free Democratic Nation.

There are painted Portrait  of Michigan soldiers on the front walls of the Museum. There is also a Tank and Korean-Era -86 Saberjet on in the front area of the Museum. The Jet is a donation from Maurice Hovious to the Museum in honor of two Michigan Jet-Fighter "Aces"- Capt. Cecil Foster and Capt. Ivan Kincheloe. The Tank was a gift from the American Legion 150 of Frankenmuth.

There is also a memorial of a rifle, boots and a helmet in honor of Michigan's fallen. People can put coins to show support for these brave Soldiers on top of it. Putting different types of coins means either support, or that one served, or other type of meanings I didn't understand.

Going to the Museum's Facebook Page shows alot of interesting Military Items and history. I will definitely go back when it's open!
