The New Suburbs- Batch Brewing Company in forefront of change in Detroit Business

Batch Brewing Company is in a nondescript building on the edge of the part
of Detroit known as Corktown. Like most of the buildings in the area it looks like a converted light industrial property. Detroit is like New York City of the 1970's- down and out but New York has triumphed with the cleaning up of the city. It was belief said New York mayor Michael Bloomberg said about a year ago at an investment event in Detroit. He said people believed it would get better. I know I do. Established as one of the earliest Detroit Neighborhoods in Detroit, (Corktown) starting off mostly Irish, than became a melting pot of immigrants by the 1850's and industrial by the time of the creation of the superhighways that mark its borders in the late 1970's and 1980's. It seems the strength of Detroit's industrial roots and a combining of cultures still exist and make this great neighborhood strong and sought out.

Our Server Laura was awesome and handled a ton of tables by herself!
THE BUSINESS.
Like many of the unique businesses in the Corktown scene,  Batch Brewing Company is a sign of life and independance in the new era of Detroit. It was holding a Bastille Day when we visited  in celebration of France's march toward independence from absolution. We found the bar to be a great place to both eat and meet new people. There is always an air of more openness in Corktown (in general)  and in  Detroit's trending venues and businesses. They just try harder I guess.
So with the Owner herself slinging the delicious crepes to the delicious beers they apparently brew themselves, it was a nice place to chill...the crowd varied from suited up executives (almost a Cadillac commercial, I swear) to a nice couple that lives in Detroit who brought their huskie dog. A nice mix of people.

THE STAFF.
Omg our waitress Laura was very dedicated and was rushing around taking big care of people. A great server! Scott, a consultant and assistant to the Owner was super nice. He took care of the order retention and such during the crepes event- also helped serve them to the hungry patrons. The tables are picnic-style so it is easy to talk to and enjoy a conversation with another patron.

With the resurgence of Detroit, This corner of quiet 50's looking buildings house businesses from Ambulance companies, to a few upscale bars and restaurants and loft living and the like.

We talked to ZIPCAR about their services in general and as compared to UBER. The main differance is that a ZIPCAR you pickup by yourself the car whereas a URBER person picks you up for that service. There is a gas card in the vehicle and no one to deal with. My ZIPCAR hosts were great, Seems like a great company. Try them out.
