What hath become of the once great Detroit? How has She lost her luster? Reasons like loss of its economical base in car building and its coat-tail related industries; Incompetent and Corrupt Governance; Loss of Post-Industrial talent; Loss of Population and job loss to other areas and Countries.

Detroit can emerge from its dark Corridor.

What if Detroit were a person? A real-live breathing Human Being. Could we fix her? What problems could we help her with?

This starts our continuing series of analyzing Detroit as if it was a person. What, not a likely useful concept? Well, THE GADFLY INVESTIGATION NEWSPAPER has contacts in the Mental Health Community and thought it would interesting for a insight into Detroit from PROFESSIONAL DOCTORS, MASTER-LEVEL THERAPISTS AND SOCIAL WORKERS.

So starts THE GADFLY THERAPY SESSION #1.....

Our First Therapy session begins with the question: IF DETROIT WERE A PERSON, WHAT IS WRONG WITH HER? Our Dr of Psychology, in practice for Decades, says,  She has a "Pull into Meaninglessness". Wow. We talked to several of our Contacts and this was the most interesting of the comments on the problems of our "Ms. Detroit". Does Detroit need a reason to change? Yes, the Gadfly says. It must find meaning in itself. Its actions must have focus. Meaning in a person's life is being happy and attempting to succeed. Success doesn't have to be at anyone's level but your own.

Change must come from within 'MS. DETROIT' or it will be forced from outside

WHAT IS THE PROGNOSIS FOR "MS. DETROIT"? "It's a CULTURAL ISSUE SO I DON"T KNOW THE SOLUTION". Culture. The Gadfly says Culture is the basis for custom and ways of living within a Society. IS DETROIT ANTI-SOCIAL? DEPRESSED? BI-POLOR? "Ms. Detroit" needs her medication, perhaps from Kevin Orr, perhaps from its citizens or perhaps another outside force. If "Ms. Detroit" can't fix herself by behavior modification or hard work, an outside force maybe necessary to help.
