THE FILLMORE THEATER & DETROIT- AN INSIDER'S VIEW ON HOW IT IS HELPING DETROIT

Growing up in Detroit I had always heard of the 'State Theater'. This was the name of the Fillmore before it was changed.  Being a Suburban kid I would not go into Detroit for a show. I grew up on Post-Punk Music genre including bands like the Depeche Mode, The Sex Pistols and The Cure. Being an Adult with my own Particular Music tastes ,I must goto the places were the Bands go. Ahoy, THE FILLMORE DETROIT ahead!

This Reporter attended the METRIC concert on June 13. It was held at a great treasure of a venue called The Fillmore Detroit.

 Built in 1925, this architectural style is called "Renaissance Revival" (Wikipedia). Known for its drawing of order and neatness from an Italian model, it is neither Gothic nor other similar styles (Wikipedia). Like I said in a picture captioned on The Gadfly Investigation Newspaper Facebook Page, it seems as if a classic composer like Mozart or Beethoven will suddenly walk out and give a performance.

DOES THIS BUILDING NEED ALOT OF UPKEEP? 3 members of the staff I talked to said had different opinions on this subject. This reporter is not going to mention the identity of these individuals. One Staff Member said alot of work is being done inside the building. Another said because of the Historical natures of the inside material like the beautiful stained glass, only touch up work like painting and the like is going on. This person said everything is pretty much the original building materials. A third Staff member didn't know about any renovations or repair work being done.

From their grand staircase to there basement bathrooms with an Attendant, this place has got it all! 

IS THE FILLMORE SAFE? THIS IS DETROIT YOU KNOW. This reporter talked to 2 people involved with the safety of the guests and being at 2 concerts (June 12th & 13th) feels confident of the protocols practiced by the Security Staff here. Having a Degree in Criminal Justice from Wayne State University which included Security courses with CPP's and Retired Police Chiefs, I feel the answers I got from them was more than adequate to address issues that could arise from potential threats. From alcohol recognition training of the Door Staff to the roving Guards during the events, to the situational responses (Which I witnessed at the XX CONCERT on June 12th), the Security Department at the Fillmore Detroit is above average. You are in good hands here.

CAN THE FILLMORE DETROIT DRAW PEOPLE TO DOWNTOWN DETROIT? The answer is yes. All of the Staff members I talked to said Guests come down to Detroit and the Fillmore is the reason. There are different Crowds for the different types of events. 3 of the Staff I interviewed said alot of Canadians come to the Fillmore. Great Exposure! One Staff Member mentioned the crowds are different depending on if one of the main Sponsors (93.9 FM-The River Radio Station) is hosting the event or not. I spoke to some Staff Members with the Radio Station about their sponsorship and the effect on Detroit. The Stations does help bring people down to Detroit for their events.

THE FILLMORE- DETROIT FILLS VOID IN HOSTING PRIVATE PARTIES. Yes, the venue does host parties and special events. Two of the  Staff I spoke 2 mentioned the various private events bring people down to Detroit.

There has been a rash of renovating and buying in the City of Detroit in the past year. THE GADFLY INVESTIGATIONS NEWSPAPER will look into how this is affecting Detroit for the better.
