Zombies in Detroit: MOTORCITY NIGHTMARES was frightfully good!

He was there. The man who basically created the modern zombie myth. The co-writer (and most ideas his), Author and writer John Russo took some time like a lot of the actors in "Return if the Living Dead" to talk to us at 2015 MOTORCITY NIGHTMARES.

Well, that was the end (talking to him). Let's start at the beginnings like any scary movie plot....

THE LOCATION & VENDORS!

The fun started before we went in with the cos-players and non-costumed people like us. It seems the costumes were all elaborate or people came in regular clothes. No in-between costumes. There were alot of people. One had to go down some corridors to get to the rooms were most of the event was being held.

Cool Hearse brought some fans to this great Horror-Con
ALL OF THE VENDORS were really nice. From Artists to craftsman, Bands to Small Film Studios, they all talked freely and definitely enjoyed their businesses. I brought a backpack for collectibles but it was full within an hour. Would have been smarter to wait til the end to buy stuff.

Mary talked about her masks and how they are made.

The Novi (Michigan) Sheraton Hotel, a bedrock off of I-275, was an okay venue- kinda had to go through 2 rooms- one pretty big but one was very small. ALOT OF VENDORS and one of my favorites was Mary from 'Mary's Monstrosities'. She came with a model and had a table and display full of hand made masks. She said they are made like they were hundres of years ago! True craftsman she is! Check her out on facebook (facebook.com/marysmonstrosites)

Masks from '"Mary's Monsrosities"...awesome!

The Model for Mary's Monstrosities walked around the convention with her mask on. Quite a sight as the masks are really well-made and fit right in the atmosphere of this Horror-Con!

Still had a good time but I feel bad for the vendors in the small room. As it was too crowded and one couldn't linger to look at their wears. From jewelry to hand-made masks to dvds, there was plenty of items and conversation to last the day.

THE BAND THAT PLAYED THE SATURDAY PARTY, PICK AXE PREACHER were really cool to talk to. We talked about their roots as Musicians and the music they listened to as kids.

Another cool Business I talked to "Black Cat Bordello Custom Bone & Taxidermy Jewelry" We talked about how they got their bones for the jewelry. They even had beetle bracelets!

Check them out on FACEBOOK as they have some interesting jewelry! All of the bones are real.

There were 2 makeup Artists right in the entrance. Kelly was putting on a pretty vicious monster face when I spoke to her when I entered.

And when I left 2 hours later she was still there. The face was very in-depth as alot of details were added. She wanted to show people how complicated this type of costume is! I met Stacia when I left. She was making a cool looking mask on a stand. Staci can be contacted at thepaintedmagpie@gmail.com if you ever need any help in her field.

Independent Movie Companies like mine are popping up...and most are really ingenious and produce some great material! One such Company, RAK FILMS , out of Ohio, produces some interesting movies! I talked to one of the members of the Company.

We talked about the industry and their films. I even bought one of them. They are also on Facebook, so check them out there. I think they are creative- like most of the small Compnaies...great ideas!

THE CELEBRITY GUESTS :)

The celebrity guest list was great:

Michael Biehn aka Kyle Reese at the MotorCity Nightmares Con

The highlights were Michael Biehn, Dee Wallace, Most of the cast from "Return of the Living Dead' and even Rock Star Lita Ford!

Lita Ford, Rock Legend at the MC Horror Convention. She was awesome!

It's was a good turn out for this convention as I was surprised by the number of better known Celebs it attracted.

As with any gathering of Stars, only one this time was not as friendly as I thought they would be. Just "Business-like". Kinda a let down but hey, they are people too...and actors. Talking to Ms. Randolph and Ms. Quigley was my favorite part as we talked about how the industry has changed and interesting bloopers in the "Return of The Living Dead".

AND OH COURSE THE MOST FAMOUS DANCE SCENE in Zombie Movies was with the awesome
 Linnea Quigley

THE FANS AND COSPLAY!

The people that attended were great! From Religious figures to (of course) horror characters, there was no need to look very far to see some interesting creature.

Talking to the "Bub" Cos-Play guy was great. I thought I was good at remembering these Zombie Movies but this guy was an ace.

"Bub" from the original "Day of the Dead"- Great look-a-like!
