The 5th Annual Michigan Rib Fest may be over but the smoked goodness of the food lingers along with the memories of fun had by the Patrons.
Surprisingly easy parking along with a nice staff ushered in the walk around the grounds of the Village. "It's awesome" says first-time visitor Jason from Lennon, Michigan. "I can't wait to see the Pig Races and I want to go on a Monster Truck Ride". He also is excited to try the Ribs at the Festival.
THE FOOD & RIBS
It seemed like everywhere you turned there were goodies from Ice Cream to Gyros. Of Course the Ribs were flowing from kiosks and Food Trucks. There was a area behind the Main Castle Building that had alot of Food Vendors with choices like Funnel Cake, Corn Dogs, Ribs, Gyros and more.
WIENER & PIGLET RACES
Both super cute Wiener Dogs in Hot Dog Costumes and Piglets raced in groups of 4 around a track during shows throughout he day at the Fest. Volunteers were asked to help from the Audience to wave the Winner Flag and help supervise the Races.
A full assortment of Vendors from Clothing to Food were sprinkled among the large Festival. There was something for everyone.
We caught up with the Kettle Corn Vendor at the Festival named Sheepdog Kettlecorn of Brooksville, Florida. We spoke to Cathy and Michael Beckwith and talked about the history of their Business and how Kettlecorn is made. This "side" Business was brought up from Florida and they will see how it does here as they recently bought a Cottage in Michigan. "The Weekend has been pretty good although I think people don't tend to go out as much when it's hot but we've had a good Weekend" This is their first time at the Rib Fest. They did have a Food Truck for the Food Truck Rally recently at Canterbury Village.
MONSTER TRUCK RIDES
On one corner of the Property a Large Monster Truck gives rides in the back of it while it does turns and circles. Everyone is always smiling when in the back of the truck and it seems like alot of fun.
There were alot of Bands- I got to see Jeremy Porter, Live Band Karaoke, Scott Lee Duo, The Firewalkers and Sweet Willie Tea. Some really outstanding groups. My favorite had to be The Scott Lee Duo as I love Synth Music.
FARM ANIMALS
A Kennel containing a Lama and several goats was hidden right in the middle of the Festival. One could purchase food and feed the cute Critters.
The Michigan Rib Fest 2022 was alot of fun- there were other activities we never got to report on (Wrestling for example) but there is always next year!
