Local Dermatology Center helps skin patients

I recently attended a open house for Northwest Dermatology Group- and had to acknowledge that they really help people with skin issues beyond just cosmetic change. After signing up and getting into several drawings for free services we saw demonstrations from product manufacturers and procedures like Hydro-skin care that help remove wrinkles, spots and other more serious skin issues.

Revision- one of the product teams at the Open House

All of the vendors and product vendors for peeling and water therapy equipment were very nice. They demonstrated the machines and products. They do work! The hydro therapy really seemed to help my hand (the demo area).

The Food & drink buffet for the attendees!

From all of the photos of before and after of real patients I am sold on them being an asset to the community! Lucky I don't need their services now but had a great time talking to the Doctors and Vendors!

The Goodie bag from the event!

The Mega 80's Band soothes the lost souls of Generation X

I've been to several MEGA 80's Concerts but this one was probably one of the best! Since 2002, Mega 80's had continually won local Newspaper votes on being the best 80's cover band in Detroit. This 5-piece has consistently mimicked classic 80's new wave and other hits. One of my favorite off-spring Bands featuring these men is "Music For The Masses", a Depeche Mode Tribute Band. They are spot-on the sound and mannerisms of Depeche Mode!

MEGA 80's IN THE ZONE!
This night the crowd was especially into the music, the sing-along and favorite parts of songs were enjoyed by the big crowd. This Band only seems to be getting better! The Magic Bag provides a great place to play- the crowd is always great and I never have any issues with the place.

VIDEO: COLLAGE OF SONGS from the MEGA 80's!

It's great to hear music from my generation that one grew up on. Kinda like getting all of your high school together and having a party or something! Til next time MEGA 80's!

                     MORE PICTURES & VIDEOS!

Carey always has fun with the crowd!

Zombie Prom isn't so "Promy" at the Emerald Thearter

Zombies, high school, scary movies- this was a no-brainer! I have also never been to the Emerald Theater before. Online it looked cool! Hailed as a zombie prom, I expected it like high school!

One of the Couples at the Zombie Prom

Wow I was really excited and bought Opera Seats (As I get older I can't deal with the crowds or the hassle of blocked views, cell phones videoing in front of me and so much more stupidness). I like Mount Clemens- I frequent a few resturants and Weirdsville Records/Cinema (another story perhaps soon!)

THE THEATER

Mount Clemens always seems to have plenty of parking (at least when I go later in the day). We got a spot almost in front of the theater. That kinda didn't bode well. Was no one going? I met 3 ladies getting ready so that was cool and dressed as Zombies but a few others I passed weren't talkative and barely dressed as my favorite undead.

The Marquee during the Zombie Prom

The ticket booth folks were nice as the obvious contract Security Company that checked pursues and bags that this place maybe got rougher with the harder music crowds. They were great throughout the night. When going in I tried to talk to a group of 4 and asked what kind of Zombie one of the guys was and he yelled in my face, "shutup!" The night was not going well. I felt it would get worse as alot of people (and it wasn't busy til ROCKSTAR, the 80s Band came on) were not even dressed as Zombies. They were other characters or Cosplays. No one was mingling or anything. Staying in their own cliches.

People were not mingling- not alot of fun til ROCKSTAR came on

The theater was BEAUTIFUL. No seating below for obvious concerts but box seating to the side and seating on the second level. However it was standing room in the lower area- no Prom seating. Basically a concert.

DJ Red's costume was great!
THE SHOW

DJ RED was in a great Halloween outfit and walking around taking pictures with the guests. His DJing is pretty good but not unique as he played 80s tunes with no mixing or anything. It was okay. ROCKSTAR was amazing! They dressed as undead hairband members (they are a talented 80's genre rock band anyway!) They put on a good show with Zombies walking out to attack the coffins they arise from soon after to start the Concert. They were on-mark musically, interacted with the crowd and i loved it!

                                      VIDEO! DJ RED

DJ RED Spinning

ROCKSTAR WAS AWESOME!

               VIDEO!  ROCKSTAR'S OPENING WAS RAD!

VIDEO! Covering "Photograph" by Def Leppard!

THE STAFF

They were all really nice except that one snobby bartender that seems to occupy all venues. Overall really great! The Owner even came up to us and gave us a refund on the box seats as we were the only ones who paid and he began (I think) letting none payers into the VIP seating area at about the time ROCKSTAR came on.

The Owner of the Emerald Theater was very cool

IN SUMMARY

I would probably not come next year as it was a let down on the following fronts:
(1) The people who go here are kinda cliquish and snobby
(2) The Prom was not a Prom at all- It was a concert

The Warrior Dash Obstacle Course 5k challenges some Oakland County Residents

Since 2009, a Race/Run has been challenging Michigan and some Oakland County residents in Mt. Morris, Michigan- Warrior Dash. This 5k run entangles the participant in 12 obstacles in addition to a run involving sandy and forested areas. Some of the Obstacles include a lagoon swim, fire pit and covered-trench crawling. One can always go around the Obstacles but it is much more fun to try to conquer them! Sold as "anybody can do it" run, this race is definitely for those in shape like the Oakland County Residents we found after the race.

Monty, Taryn and Eden of Auburn Hills had a great time at the race. "Taryn and I had run it a couple of years before; Eden wasn't old enough before so we all wanted to participate as a family" Taryn and Eden runs cross-country." This happy Family was in great spirits and very nice.

Along with a mobile Restaurant and other Drink Kiosks was a free-standing large food cart. We met Laurie of Davison , the proud Mother of Anna's Bananas Owner Anna, a 19-year old Business Student."(Anna) wanted to start a small business while she's in college so when she's ready to graduate she can go alittle bit bigger...like a food truck". The Ice Cream Stand was busy. "We sell ice cream, novelty ice cream and frozen bananas in Chocolate- people can add sprinkles it they want" Business has been very good as it's so hot outside- everyone needs ice cream afterwards"

There were fun games for the kids which in included a slide-line for kids to have fun sliding along a rope several hundred feet. The large food area was bustling with activity with tired but happy runners. A DJ played the popular tunes as several people danced.

Kristen from Oakland County was playing the Cornhole game after her run. She said the race "was really fun; this has been my first experience and I have already said I want to come back"

Jessica, Operations Manager for Warrior Dash was more then happy to talk to us. "The Race is going great today. I know it's a hot one but people are surviving and I think they are having alot of fun". This event is the second largest and "one of our favorite venues" for Red Frog Events LLC, a well-known entertainment Company out of Chicago. They have Races in 23 States this year in addition to non-race events ad Festivals.

Another Run was done but next year who know what new Obstacles will try to stop Oakland County Runners who travel to this "Warrior Nation" test near Flint-the phrase Warrior Dash likes to call it. Fun, Fitness and challenging oneself is alive at Warrior Dash.

"The Dead Don't Die" Movie Review....SPOILER ALERT!

I recently saw this movie that I hoped would ring true of the likes of "Shawn of The Dead"- but it was not even close. Really a let down.

The Story

A small Town is overrun by the undead due to global axis tilt due to Fraking. The Characters introduced- The Sheriff's Department, a Couple of Store Owners, and other working Joes and such are introduced in a horribly boring way; Even Bill Murray's Character is a snooze. Ugh that was a shame. The Atory follows standard Zombie parlance- slowly the undead take over with the main Charaters running and surviving with foreshadow, action and charater growth.
However, none of these things happen.

The foreshadowing goes nowhere, perhaps on purpose as it may be "artsy", as the Director is known for it. I mean, one Character, The Town Mortician is shown to be an expert swords-woman and slowly fights her way (to help the main characters, perhaps?) No. The Woman is taken up in a frekin alien Flying Saucer. No reason for it. A Hermit who the sheriff Characters seem to have a respectful relationship doesn't' save then at the end even when he could have. A group of 20-somethings are introduced and they all die half-wat through. No reason or story to it. We assume the will team-up some of the other Characters.

I mean no one survives. Silly ego and a waste of Film.

Star Wars Group is a course to fan fun

Little did I know a fun Star Wars Pub Crawl was going to become a place to meet new friends, learn how to theatrically light-saber fight and just have a great time with a Movie Universe (my definition is a whole slew of related movies, tv, books and such from a movie or series of movies; they create a whole "world" including products, spin-offs, etc.)

THE FACEBOOK CLUB

We met 2 people who were dressed up as Jedi (and we as Sith) a few months ago at CRAWL WARS, a Royal Oak Star Wars- themed Pub Crawl (Costumed Folk go to several Bars over the course of a few hours and enjoy themselves). We joined the group (THE MICHIGAN JEDI/SITH ORDER) and it is great! Within the group the people who run it created a theatrical light-saber fighting club and were looking for new members. The Club is at "The Temple", one of the Founders of the groups home. We are learning how to light-saber fight theatrically....the walking, parries and attacks that mimic Rapier sword-fighting. Looking onward to alot of fun!

CHARITY WORK

The Groups tries hard to do good for the Community. We recently went to Moonbeams for Sweet Dreams, a Beaumont Hospital event for the Month of December were the Community shines lights below to the Kids Pediatric Ward to show they care (and the Kids shine lights back). A great event to help kids! More Events like reading to kids at school and Comic-Cons are coming up.

          VIDEO: MOONBEAMS FOR SWEET DREAM!

SITH APPRENTICES

We recently got asked to be Apprentices for Sith Lords of the Group! We have a "Master" that will teach us his training and we will also work our way up in the group to perhaps be on the Ruling Council of it!

THANKS FOR READING! MORE ON THIS GREAT GROUP SOON!

Michigan Firehouse Museum Ghost Hunt: Success!

On a cold night in early December, a Building connected to an Old Firehouse was found to be haunted! The Hunt was lead by 3 experts in the Ghost-Hunting field: Stephanie Burke (Medium), Scott Porter (Ghost-Hunter) & John E.L. Tenney (Researcher). In addition to this hunt, our Team (Gadfly Ghost-Hunting) & the Experts were here for Paracon 2018, a Ghost & Occult Convention held until the Ghost-Hunt at Midnight. Let the fun begin!

PARACON 2018

We arrived at the Station after trying to find parking. I sure wish the Organizers would have told the Attendees this. We also walked into presentations already in progress. They did not let people know that either. We were disappointed by Expert Tenney who promised to look at our photos and did not. Only a few bad points as most of the rest of this adventure was grand! In the Basement were booths of Vendors with mugs, art, unique Gothic items and more could be found. I picked up several items!

We watch some of Mr. Porter's presentation as he spoke loud (there was no speaker system) and some of Ms. Burke's (but it was hard to hear). I loved Mr. Porter's point of "Old School" Investigation. Using your senses and non-technology. So much is lost in all of the apps and more these days.

The Investigation Teams at midnight til 3am were divided into groups: one lead by Mr. Tenney and another lead by Ms. Burke and Mr. Porter. About halfway through the Hunt the Groups changed these Lead Investigators.

THE INVESTIGATION- The Basement (Team Porter/Burke)

Burke & Porter lead the investigation in the main part of the Basement. They used a Spirit Box with some success- they named 2 Firemen  (Eric & Joe). With the help of a retired fire Chief who came along to ask "Fireman-related questions",  the Lead Investigators drew information out of the Spirits. One part of this endeavor Burke was blindfolded and listened only to the Spirit Box while blindfolded and unaware (and not able to hear) beyond the earphones. Questions posed by Porter were answered by Burke showing the truthfulness of the Spirits present! It was awesome!

THE INVESTIGATION- The Second Level/Tower

Our Group switched leaders (we got Mr. Tenney). We all sat in a large conference room were we tried to talk to spirits. We recorded the time but we didn't catch anything. There were just too many people i think in the room. When we broke up to go down stairs we were given an opportunity to go up an old stairwell to a Tower Room door (we were not allowed in the Tower due to structural issues). Nothing was found on the stairwell up (I had to go alone up the stairs as it was narrow and only 2 people at a time were allowed up).

THE INVESTIGATION- The back-part of the Basement

We broke off from the merging of the Investigation Groups in the main-part of the Museum to go down to the other side of the Basement. We felt a few cold spots. At an old dead-end room I didn't pick up any EVP or change in temperature but the photos later showed an Orb in the area!

THE INVESTIGATION- Old Firehouse Garage

The actual Carriage-area of the old Firehouse was available to search in! I didn't find anything on the video or photos here. We happen to get here before the crowds of the other Ghost-Hunters came. Alot of cool stuff in here like old Horse-Drawn Fire Vehicles!

CONCLUSION

We had a good time plus found proof of a haunting here! Other then Expert Tenney not biding by his promise to look at our Orb Photos, we were pleased! This might be our last "large Group" Ghost Hunt as too many people and such really ruins some of the experience and Investigation.

THE OTHER PHOTOS!
