Fiestaware Quest

My mom read an article about the US 127 Yard Sale and wanted to see what it was .  Here is a quick summary of what the US 127 Yard Sale is.  The US 127 Yard Sale is billed as the World's Longest Yard Sale.  It stretches 690 Miles from Gadsden, Alabama to Addison, Michigan.  The sale runs 4 days and starts on the first Thursday in August.  The sale originated back in 1987 and originally ran only through Tennessee and Kentucky , but it has continued to expand north and south.  Headquarters are located in Jamestown Tennessee.   This is the Us 127 Yard Sale 's web site:  http://www.127sale.com/
Good daughter that I am I took mom to US 127 to experience a small taste of the US127 Yard Sale.  Mom is on a quest to find Fiestaware and believes that yard sales are a good place to look, so off we went.  Hudson,  Michigan was where we saw the most yard sales in Michigan and they even had a map of the city listing all the sales and what they featured.  That area of Michigan and Ohio had quite a bit of rain in the morning so that seemed to put a damper on the sales.  Sorry to say mom didn't find any Fiestaware today, but she is determined to continue her quest.  I told her that next year we will plan for the US 127 Yard Sale and maybe make it a short 2 or 3 day venture all the way to Tennessee.  At the least next year we will leave early in the morning and go well into Ohio.  No matter we had a nice ride and saw a part of our state we had not been to before, had dinner at a small local place in Hudson that had good home cooking and met some nice people.  I also told her I would take to local yard sales and Estate Sales, and if she was good I would take her to west Virginia to take the Homer Laughlin Factory tour (this is where Fiestaware is made).

Yup, next year we plan it out and make it into a several days trip and several articles for The Gadfly Investigations Newspaper.

Love my pickup trucks,  would have liked to have brought one of these home.
