Many people do not realize this nor do they realize how close Canada is to Detroit.
If you have any doubt about the close proximity of Detroit to Canada read this story of a Canadian who got drunk and swam to Detroit.  I know all things considered with Detroit and bankruptcy, etc.; why would anyone sneak across the border to get into Detroit?  Well, maybe he has been reading The Gadfly Investigations Newspaper and sees there is more to Detroit and Michigan than just a punchline to jokes.
