Thinking back to Skate America in October

Skate America 2013 Detroit Michigan
Very excited to go to Frenchie Skate 2014 tomorrow, and it got me thinking back to Skate America in October and the beginning of the Skating Season.  Competitions are always exciting and it was great to see Meryl Davis and Charlie White debut Scheherazade.

In addition to Davis and White, I got to see a lot of great skaters including;
  • Tatiana VOLOSOZHAR / Stanislav MOROZOV (Pairs Olympic Gold Medalists)
  • Ksenia STOLBOVA/Fedor KLIMOV (Pairs Olympic Siver Medalists)
  • Mao Asada
  • Jason Brown
  • Ashley Wagner
  •  Maia SHIBUTANI/Alex SHIBUTANI
  • Daisuke TAKAHASHI

Additionally, it was great to be at 'The Joe' (Joe Louis Arena) to see a skating competition right here in Detroit MichiganDetroit hosted Skate America previously in 1995, 1997 and 1998.  And of course Detroit hosted the US Nationals in 1994, which will forever be remembered for 'Tonya and Nancy'.

Visitors had great things to say about Detroit - how friendly and nice people were, and how well the competition was run. Hopefully we'll see more skating competitions here in the future - it is only fitting since so many skaters train in the area.  Hope to see you all at Frenchie Skate tomorrow.

One More Time - #Gadflyin at the NAIAS

So we followed our plan and got to see all the vehicles we were hoping to see at the Auto Show.  Here are a few unplanned sightings that really caught my eye.

The Ford Raptor is awesome.  I had seen one once before at the Rouge Factory Tour and even got to sit in it.  Lot of  awesome truck there.

I really liked this sign at the Mazda exhibit.

I don't know if it was the nice blue color or just that it was a cute car, but this Fiat caught my eye.

This Bentley costs more than my house - quite a bit more.  MSRP =$301,900.  Price as shown=$389,819

Meanwhile Back #Gadflyin at the NAIAS...

I think I mentioned I went to the Auto Show with 2 friends, and they had their own 'want to see list'.  For my friends it was the VW Jetta, Ford Mustangs, Chevy Camaro and Chevy Corvette.  No argument there, I am glad to take a look at these also.

Looks like a new VW Jetta will be going from the wish list to bought and paid for list.

One of my favorite classic cars is the 1965 Ford Mustang. So glad Ford chose to include this car in their exhibit.

Here is the 2015 version of the Ford Mustang - sweet.

The Chevy Camaro is pretty sweet too.

The Chevy Corvette was the hardest car to get near or sit in - everyone was waiting to sit in it.

So glad my friends wanted to see all these cars, I was not disappointed with any of them. Next up, a few that weren't on any of our lists...

#Gadflyin Cars and Trucks at the NAIAS

Despite going first thing in the morning and on a weekday, the Auto Show was crowded.  We had a plan, a floor map and a list of the vehicles we definitely wanted to see.  For me it was the Ford F-150, GMC Canyon, and Dodge Muscle cars.

Beautiful new Ford F-150. Yup, looks like the "Future of Tough" is here.

Got to see all 'my wants'. So far the plan is working...

Arctic Cold Can Not Keep Us from #Gadflyin at NAIAS

Last week I braved the Arctic cold and went #Gadflyin at the North American International Auto Show.  We parked in Greektown at one of the churches and took the Detroit People Mover to Cobo Center.  Even though we went first thing in the morning on a weekday we could tell it would be packed as the parking lots were almost full and the People Mover was packed.

I know that one of the things we say at The Gadfly Investigations Newspaper is that Detroit and Michigan is more than just cars (and they are.)
But Michigan still IS autos, and we LOVE our autos.

Today a Federal Judge ruled that Detroit is eligible to file for bankruptcy making it the largest municipality in US history to enter into bankruptcy.   So, yes B is for Bankruptcy, but it is also for:
BPostive Detroit
BProud Detroit
Begin Anew Detroit
We at The Gadfly Investigations Newspaper Believe in Detroit and that is why we often blog about Detroit. We want everyone to see that there is more to Detroit than the bankruptcy and ruin porn.  We hope that in a small way we can contribute to the resurgence of this Beautiful city.  So The Gadfly Investigations Newspaper will continue to BPositive about Detroit and ask that everyone say something positive about Detroit whenever they can.

#Gadflyin With the Big Heads at The Parade Company

Thanksgiving is coming and you know what that means - America's Thanksgiving ParadeThanks to The Parade Company of Detroit, Michigan this is a great parade.  PI Sam and I took the tour that they offer at The Parade Company - it was a lot of fun and very interesting.  The Gadfly Investigations Newspaper will blog more about this soon, but for now here is a little quiz for you.  Can you name who these famous people are?

Come #Gadflyin With Us

#Gadflyin in Pure Michigan

Just thinking about #Gadflyin and what we do.  I think one of the things we are doing is we are taking our Supersonic Safety Research skills as investigators and getting out and about Detroit and Michigan to find and report on who we are as a city and a state.  I think we try to 'uncover' some of the 'hidden' (lesser known actually) things about this place we call home.  I personally like to show off to all the naysayers what a great place this is.  To show that Michigan and Detroit is more than just cars and bankruptcy.  I am hoping that people, not just Detroiters and Michiganders will start to follow us.  I am hoping that everyone will want to be #Gadflyin with The Gadfly Investigations Newspaper.  Stay with us we have lots to report.  Thanks.
